Silver leg gold foot, silver leg silver foot

C-3po’s right leg looks like in SW that the leg is silver and also the foot. But in Empire the leg is silver and the foot is gold. I plan to have my DP staute plated soon and trying to figure it out what look to go with. My leg is all one piece and I’m not sure if the plater will have a hard time masking it off.

Should he be all gold or mix it up?

Jim

Hey Jim! To quote Chris in a previous thread. (http://www.runboard.com/bc3pobuilders.f2.t3)

quote:

OK, since I'm getting my Threepio chromed I'd like to ask your opinions as regular fans (not as C-3PO aficionados). I'm considering having them do the whole thing gold, no silver leg. Am I crazy? Here's why and you tell me if you agree. At the last couple events, I've had avid Star Wars fans ask, "why do you have a silver leg?" Apparently in the minds of most fans, C-3PO was always all gold (except for episode 1). I've even heard people say, "He wasn't gold in AOTC? I thought he was just dirty!"

Another reason I was considering going all gold is because now with ROTS, fans are reminded of Threepio and all his golden glory, and no silver leg. Plus, the silver leg isn't always consistent. Sometimes in the original publicity photos, it's a silver left leg with a silver right foot. Sometimes he's shown with both a right silver leg AND foot, like the DP statue, or the "Story of Star Wars" Bonus DVD for ROTS. Sometimes in the original trilogy, fans can't even tell whether it's silver or gold.
Even exhibits are now showing him as all gold (Where Science meets imagination) and FIDM Dressing a Galaxy.

Now, I like to be as accurate as possible to the Original Trilogy - as much as the next guy, but I don't think even most hardcore fans would even notice, or care. In fact, the biggest reason I'd lose the silver leg for me is because it draws attention away from the costume because people think I've made a mistake. And I guess in this case, I'd rather go with what people think they remember - the ideal Threepio if you will.

But then again, In my opinion.. Since its only for display I would silver chrome the Leg and foot ANH style. Its easier to explain to observers that it is in fact canon, when you aren’t in costume emoticon

I think I will go with the all silver leg. My R2 is the New Hope style and that would make the most sence.

Thanks
Jim

Yeah, I think the right silver shin is the most consistent.
