But despite cutting the top pipe to 25 inches, the torso section still looks to long. I think the torso needs to be even with the top of R2s dome. Will have to cut a bit to see if it evens out better. The bottom pipes are the 33" in the diagram, so I'll wait until I get the legs to see how well that fits. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Shredder565)Sun, 14 Dec 2014 16:48:20 +0000 Re: Building a Display Mannequinhttps://bc3pobuilders.runboard.com/p3455,from=rss#post3455https://bc3pobuilders.runboard.com/p3455,from=rss#post3455Thanks. That paint is Plasti-Kote Brilliant Metallic gold. The Brilliant Metallic is only available from the UK (not in the US) . Standard Metallic is available in the US, but does not have quite the reflectivity. The only downside to the Brilliant Metallic is that it seems to never fully "cure" and is eternally subject to fingerprints that you can't rub off. Also, do NOT clear coat it. http://www.plasti-kote.co.uk/Product/pcode---4510 nondisclosed_email@example.com (Trooper TK409)Fri, 20 Aug 2010 10:41:16 +0000 Re: Building a Display Mannequinhttps://bc3pobuilders.runboard.com/p3454,from=rss#post3454https://bc3pobuilders.runboard.com/p3454,from=rss#post3454Thank you Chris fpr this tutorial! Just a question... what's the paint (I think it is not plated...) used for the weathered c3po seen assembled on the mannequin??? It is the look I want for mine! Thx for answering!!nondisclosed_email@example.com (booyaah)Wed, 18 Aug 2010 22:36:24 +0000 Re: Building a Display Mannequinhttps://bc3pobuilders.runboard.com/p3427,from=rss#post3427https://bc3pobuilders.runboard.com/p3427,from=rss#post3427Image links updated.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Trooper TK409)Sun, 08 Aug 2010 07:29:14 +0000 Re: Building a Display Mannequinhttps://bc3pobuilders.runboard.com/p2166,from=rss#post2166https://bc3pobuilders.runboard.com/p2166,from=rss#post2166Cheers Chris nondisclosed_email@example.com (kurtyboy)Tue, 07 Apr 2009 19:53:45 +0000 Re: Building a Display Mannequinhttps://bc3pobuilders.runboard.com/p2052,from=rss#post2052https://bc3pobuilders.runboard.com/p2052,from=rss#post2052It's been a while since I made mine, but I believe you want to add 1" per end in order to have enough to fit into the next section. For example, an 8" pipe should be 10". Sorry for the confusion.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Trooper TK409)Fri, 06 Mar 2009 14:44:39 +0000 Re: Building a Display Mannequinhttps://bc3pobuilders.runboard.com/p2035,from=rss#post2035https://bc3pobuilders.runboard.com/p2035,from=rss#post2035Has anyone followed this? The dimensions aren't very clear. Do they include the lengths of pipe hidden inside the joints or are they the lengths of the visible parts? Or are they the lengths such as floor to hip, shoulder to elbow etc. Has anyone figured out exactly what length to cut each piece of pipe? I just can't get anything to match up and I've wasted so much of this stuff already nondisclosed_email@example.com (kurtyboy)Tue, 03 Mar 2009 20:49:36 +0000 Re: Building a Display Mannequinhttps://bc3pobuilders.runboard.com/p37,from=rss#post37https://bc3pobuilders.runboard.com/p37,from=rss#post37 nondisclosed_email@example.com (Trooper TK409)Sat, 02 Jun 2007 15:50:03 +0000 Building a Display Mannequinhttps://bc3pobuilders.runboard.com/p36,from=rss#post36https://bc3pobuilders.runboard.com/p36,from=rss#post36Here's another idea that is much simpler! Entirely made out of PVC and covered with a thin plywood for a base. Everything was then painted black. All 3PO parts could easily be detached/attached in just a few minutes, so transporting it to cons will make it a bit easier. This next one was my first version. Drawing largely from inspiration from Bluescrutch's pvc mannequin, I made a quick skeleton. I'll post the measurements for all the pieces, but for now, here's a couple photos. It only takes like 20 minutes to cut the pieces and put it together. This mannequin is poseable and stands on its own on a flat surface, but our driveway is slanted so my little assistant and a can of paint had to help out. I'll post more when my legs are ready. Those "hands" are only temporary to keep the arms from sliding down. Finally got mine up on the mannequin. The head sits atop the tall neck pole, the torso rests on the mannequin "T" section (neck and shoulders), the arms are connected to each other by a strap running through the torso, buckling together. I'm not happy with the hands at the moment (they have magic markers for fingers inside the gloves and a piece of bendable wire hooked through the glove suspending it through the forearm, hooked up at the elbow) The midsection and bottom half are basically just stacked on top of each other - no suspension needed. The midsection needs to be filled out (stuffed) a bit more. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Trooper TK409)Sat, 02 Jun 2007 15:48:58 +0000
