Re: pics of my other (lol) project Optimus Prime

thank you for the kind words, im really really proud of him, i had no robot building skills before i built my r2, and with prime i knew it would be a challenge, as theres no plans, just a 20th anniversary optimus to go on,i will be posting some new pics soon, as soon as my new camera lead comes, ive now made fold in chrome mirrors using d handles and blind spot mirrors, small wipers from a singkle stainless wiper blade, grab rails, and small indicators too,
again thank you for the kind words of encouragement,
all the best

Re: pics of my other (lol) project Optimus Prime

hi guys
heres the latest pics of prime
first job bring the other arm upto the same standard as the other,
while drying i tackled the white band round the cab middle, a lot of masking off and a few coats later, masking came of and im really pleased,a little bled through on the masking line, but nothing to lose any sleepover, then back to the other arm, where i set about fitting all the chrome and details, smokestacks, autobot badge etc, a little weathering to the 3d panels and round the vents i wanted a little dust, to make my dust i used,DONT LAUGH (fine ground black and white pepper,i said dont laugh) and clear glue, no to tackle the red on the cab, once i bought some xmas presents.
all the best

WoW! I am impressed yet again with this .Rims and tires are rare. What is the original use for the rim and tires you purchased? The neck detail and paint are awsome. I am soooo exsited to see this done!

hi brad
as always thanks for the comments and nice to hear from you, the wheels and tyres came from ebay, there for a mini quad bike, the guy sold them with chuncky tyres or slicks,i went for the chunky as i thought it looked more in keeping with my build, slick didnt look right, and the best bit was the price, 35 POUND, which i thought was fantastic, its great to get the cab in paint too,i will leave it for the week, then flat with soapy water and 1200 wet and dry, then a good polish, before i add the detail ive been making, which will really bring him to life,

hi guys, well, today i spent 4 hours cutting and polishing the cab, then i started to add all the parts, sorted out his sound, and fitted properly, the sound, as you all remember came from the optimus prime face mask from the first movie,i also used the sides,(the ears) and the curved vents from the side of the mask, that hold the sound board, they were heated,to take the curve out,and added as the vents for my prime. then i soldered the bigger speaker to the wires, and fitted in place, behind the grill, just got to add side mirrors and grab rails and chrome trim round windows, and a little weathering,
enjoy

hi guys
well, mirrors, grab rails have now been fitted,i also wanted to improve his top cab lights,as i think they were a little to big and not in porportion with the mirrors and rest of bits id made, heres how i did it, being asthmatic i go through a far lot of inhalers, so ive been saving the canisters, and heres the result, i also used orange push buttons, cut the tops of, drill holes into canisters, polished on the buffing wheel, i think there loads better!!just the trim to go round the windows, heres the pics
