Anthony Daniels has said the light bulbs were bulbs, and not LEDs. I used small "flora lights" but I can't find them anymore, only LEDs. You can get them pre-wired on ebay for about $5.

Re: *Official* Eyes Thread
Iris tube
I found that an art store near me sells the thin brass tubing that is used for the iris/pupil. They come in 7/16" width. If you're making your own eyes, check an art store. or Ebay:

Lens material
Consider using the white plastic they use to cover fluorescent lighting. - Found at larger hardware stores.
Eye Lights
Can be found on eBay under seller "sixstarsales". They come pre-wired and powered by a battery. Search for "Fairy Lights LED"

Re: *Official* Eyes Thread
I found these at Wally's ( Wal-Mart) in the Christmas decor section...
$3.48 here in Pa.
They are super bright too..I was almost blinded by the display that was set up.
First pic is with a desk lamp...
second is without lamp but with flash...
Other colors are available, like red and green too.

Re: *Official* Eyes Thread
Cool find! I will have to check out those lights. Could have many uses...
I used Chris' method to light the eyes in the 2 head's I did.
I found the set of lights Chris mentioned at Michael's Arts & Crafts for $4.95. They work great. I also got some thin gold foil from Michael's and used that as a reflective backing.
D3PO2, please post some pics of the LED's when you have them installed.

Re: *Official* Eyes Thread
I've have some of the plastic used for light covers as suggested. But I was wondering if anyone has used a reflector style plastic... I'd always thought his eyes looked like that.
I want to get my eyes done soon, and was wondering if anyone had some tips to making their own lenses... with the brass tubes and such. (The best way to cut the plastic etc...)
Here are some images I'd found (RPF I think) of Threepios eyes.
Any suggestions on where to get lenses like these?

Re: *Official* Eyes Thread
Probably a vintage bike's reflector.
(for the ANH style)
For ESB/ROTJ and Prequel style (both different) I try to find a good plastic used for light covers...but I found nothing (I live in France)
Any others ideas?

Re: *Official* Eyes Thread
Maybe its the part that goes under the outer lens of a flash light? The hole could be for the bulb to stick through. Because the hole in the center of the screen used eyes isn't a mod, its part of it.

Re: *Official* Eyes Thread
I find it interesting, that a picture of a screen used eye only shows one view.
What about the back of the eye?
The side view?
Hmmm
