On ebay the shipping for a bar of surf wax is about 4 times as much as the cost of the wax itself.
Paraffin wax should work as well. You can get that at your local grocery store. One box is a few dollars and will last you forever.

Hey Gordon! Love the suit! Ive always been partial to a TC-14 type of droid, but I think since mine will be for display only (too fat to fit in it LOL) I have to go with C3P0. People will get confused if they see him a different color emoticon You have to have a very specific frame to fit into that suit!

Keep up the blog, Its Really been helpful, and I cant wait to see how you tweek your formula for the Alclad and the ink. I think its an awesome alternative to Vac Metal.

Thanks and keep it up! I check it every day to see what else you've done....

Flan

Thanks guys! I recorded more video for the chrome tutorial. I'll try to edit down a bit and post it tonight.

Did a troop at the Orlando Science Center this weekend for their new Star Wars exhibit.

The face I'm wearing in the photos is the first version of my new one. I did a few mods to it after pulling the mold that I'm pretty happy with. I'm working on the back of the helmet now too. The part I'm working off of is very accurate, pulled from a real suit but very beat-up so there's still quite a bit of repair to go before it's ready to mold, then some more mods after that and a new mold will be made.... lots of work... meh..

The back of the head I used this weekend is my from my first helmet, a Starbuckcylon fiberglass kit.

Thanks guys! Yes, working on a helmet kit now. Slow going but it'll be done soon. Hoping to have a prototype finished in the next 2 weeks.

Got a few clips from the Orlando Science Center a few weeks ago.
A bungie in my right leg was catching on something (probably the edge of my shorts...) and making a loud pop every time I took a step, which is why I'm walking a bit more carefully.
