A question for all of you that have lids done already ... Is there any pictures of styrine lids that have been painted/plated without any mods done to them , as I no a lot of people tend to sharpen the detail lost in the process of making them, would be nice to see one for a comparison.. Thanks for the advice guys I will post pictures of the lid when I'm close to getting it something like ... nondisclosed_email@example.com (Darthpedge)Sat, 11 Jan 2014 04:23:41 +0000 Re: C-3PO head rebuildhttps://bc3pobuilders.runboard.com/p7820,from=rss#post7820https://bc3pobuilders.runboard.com/p7820,from=rss#post7820My Zorg heads in primer smooth cheeks . It's a trick of the reflections. Same thing happens to the nose, which is rounded on the front and not sharp. My helmet is a close relative to a movie helmet and has really good detail. It gives the same "sharp" effect when the lighting is right but the cheeks are definitely rounded. Without the reflective metalic layer it's really easy to see. I'll look for some photos of it with just primer after work today.   K3PO is a really good example because he's not mirror reflective. There are more pictures of him online but you'll have to search around a bit. nondisclosed_email@example.com (GordonTarpley)Fri, 10 Jan 2014 14:51:06 +0000 Re: C-3PO head rebuildhttps://bc3pobuilders.runboard.com/p7814,from=rss#post7814https://bc3pobuilders.runboard.com/p7814,from=rss#post7814Well to be honest they are not completed yet the ones on the right if the photos, the details in the ordinal lids would have been very shape as can been seen in various shots something I find is lost in the lids available all bar the fibreglass ones. My friend who is a sculpter made the one on the left and I love the detail but the forehead is to big which was intended to make the helmet more roomy but I went for the styrine one instead and used ref pictures below and the lid on the right.. Any advice is always welcome lol nondisclosed_email@example.com (Darthpedge)Fri, 10 Jan 2014 09:48:36 +0000 Re: C-3PO head rebuildhttps://bc3pobuilders.runboard.com/p7813,from=rss#post7813https://bc3pobuilders.runboard.com/p7813,from=rss#post7813The sharpening of the cheeks is an interesting choice. This is now much bigger, higher , wider and longer in the jaw. All vacformed heads are lacking any great sharpness although they are nice and light. Still intending to get a mold of this and make it in a lightly layered gelcoat /fibreglass for costuming. I think your head sculpt is really nice.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Forest trooper)Wed, 23 Oct 2013 12:05:05 +0000 Re: C-3PO head rebuildhttps://bc3pobuilders.runboard.com/p7694,from=rss#post7694https://bc3pobuilders.runboard.com/p7694,from=rss#post7694Nice work buddy iv bought the larger styrine lid fits great and now iv got to sharpen the detail lines =( did you do the nose and eyebrows... Iv had a larger fibreglass lid made and it fits really with plenty space but its quite heavy hence the new styrine one.. Here's some pictures of my fibreglass one the lines are spot on The gap near the crown/halo is where the neck collar is pushing it out as not fitted brass bits yet, nondisclosed_email@example.com (Darthpedge)Wed, 23 Oct 2013 10:33:24 +0000 Re: C-3PO head rebuildhttps://bc3pobuilders.runboard.com/p7602,from=rss#post7602https://bc3pobuilders.runboard.com/p7602,from=rss#post7602Really amazing work, Forest! The inner piece has a nice detail but because I have to cut the outer edges down I may add a flat egde detail if I cast it up. I have tweaked the eye area, the eyebrows slightly again and the nose ... again.  nondisclosed_email@example.com (Forest trooper)Sun, 09 Jun 2013 06:11:48 +0000 Re: C-3PO head rebuildhttps://bc3pobuilders.runboard.com/p7360,from=rss#post7360https://bc3pobuilders.runboard.com/p7360,from=rss#post7360More almost finished pics Size now, I am still tweaking things since these pics!nondisclosed_email@example.com (Forest trooper)Wed, 05 Jun 2013 15:55:17 +0000 Re: C-3PO head rebuildhttps://bc3pobuilders.runboard.com/p7359,from=rss#post7359https://bc3pobuilders.runboard.com/p7359,from=rss#post7359Hi Nicolas, If you have a thin head any of Jim's heads will fit you. Still the internal lip to add to the faceplate, fill the rear slots and give it a final coat of gloss black. I have worked with both, a lot. This head has been changed quite a bit since I started working on it.The bottom of the chin has been deepened by 26mm approx, rear rounded , widened and deepened, the top of the rear head by 36mm approx, width and other dimensions are bigger. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Forest trooper)Sat, 19 Jan 2013 13:11:35 +0000 Re: C-3PO head rebuildhttps://bc3pobuilders.runboard.com/p6923,from=rss#post6923https://bc3pobuilders.runboard.com/p6923,from=rss#post6923Are you sure thats the VAC FORMED version .it looks very much like the resin head Jim offers. ?nondisclosed_email@example.com (stukatrooper)Sat, 19 Jan 2013 12:38:48 +0000 Re: C-3PO head rebuildhttps://bc3pobuilders.runboard.com/p6922,from=rss#post6922https://bc3pobuilders.runboard.com/p6922,from=rss#post6922Your welcome brother, If you want any other brass pieces I'm only a pm away. If I am not mistaken the original slots seem to have been cut out with a wheel. Mine are a bit deep atm. Two pack high build primer is great for sanding a sharp edge. My helmet is quite a bit wider and longer than it was originally, eyes are very slightly bigger, hopefully they will look better once they are the same colour as the head. The inner size is smaller than Jim's version, with the lights fitted I hope they don't look too small. Thanks for the help, yes I have seen this pic. I have googled, checked the brilliant reference pics here and looked up many fan pages trying to get decent pics of the back edge of the faceplate. Nothing clear enough.        nondisclosed_email@example.com (Forest trooper)Sat, 19 Jan 2013 07:25:28 +0000 Re: C-3PO head rebuildhttps://bc3pobuilders.runboard.com/p6920,from=rss#post6920https://bc3pobuilders.runboard.com/p6920,from=rss#post6920 Here's the inside of a (screen used?) helmet I found through a quick google-search.nondisclosed_email@example.com (littledragon88)Fri, 18 Jan 2013 19:39:12 +0000 Re: C-3PO head rebuildhttps://bc3pobuilders.runboard.com/p6919,from=rss#post6919https://bc3pobuilders.runboard.com/p6919,from=rss#post6919Wow, your retouched helmet is fantastic!
