Really nice to meet you, briefly at CE2, we had such a great time, looking forward to seeing the photo. Hopefully I'll post some pictures of my own when I eventually get home. (still in Essen till tomorrow). I've seen the amazing work of Mr GT and think when I eventually get the rest of my costume obtained I'll invest in a good airbrush set up and give his techniques a go! Keep in touch Sarah xnondisclosed_email@example.com (SarahTC14)Tue, 30 Jul 2013 09:36:05 +0000 Re: SarahTC14https://bc3pobuilders.runboard.com/p7488,from=rss#post7488https://bc3pobuilders.runboard.com/p7488,from=rss#post7488Hi Sarah! It was nice to get to meet you at CEII, I'll remember to post the picture we took together when I get home. I am that asian guy who stumbled across you and your friends when you walked around with that TC14 helmet of yours By the way, GT here at the forum has some nice tutorial on how to do DIY gold/silver chrome using airbrush and a type of modelling chrome paint called Alclad. You should check out the results he has achieved. iamc3po.blogspot.com is his blog where you can find the tutorials and lots of videos. I have bought the Alclad, but not yet tried it. But from what I've seen GT has done, it is definitely the most economical and best DIY method of chroming so far.nondisclosed_email@example.com (littledragon88)Tue, 30 Jul 2013 08:23:32 +0000 Re: SarahTC14https://bc3pobuilders.runboard.com/p7458,from=rss#post7458https://bc3pobuilders.runboard.com/p7458,from=rss#post7458Thanks for the comments guys. Yes I'm so pleased with how its turned out. Been promising myself I'd get this done for far too long. Cost? well it was £100+VAT so £115 ($175 approx) expensive , yes and if and when I get a whole suit... well I think we all know its not a cheap hobby :-), But I think its kinda worth it, it looks gorgeous, I keep admiring it as I pass it in the kitchen!! Thinking of taking it to Essen, what do you think??? I might be a bit over protective about my new baby :-) Take care guys , hope to see you if any of you get to CE2 x sarahtc14.blogspot.co.uknondisclosed_email@example.com (SarahTC14)Tue, 23 Jul 2013 06:46:21 +0000 Re: SarahTC14https://bc3pobuilders.runboard.com/p7457,from=rss#post7457https://bc3pobuilders.runboard.com/p7457,from=rss#post7457Looks really beautiful Sarah! I'm not sure if there's any c3po clubs here, maybe through 501? Do you have any photos of your work? The back of the head is a lot smoother (yes lots of sanding and stuff still to do) There is 'some' shape to the whole head and we have the 2 parts together for the first time! There's still some shaping of the ear section (lots of picture references , measuring and a keen eye!!!) but I have a smile on my face for the first time. Must dash all this sanding is ruining my nails!!! more soon....nondisclosed_email@example.com (SarahTC14)Mon, 17 Jun 2013 09:45:07 +0000 Re: SarahTC14https://bc3pobuilders.runboard.com/p7378,from=rss#post7378https://bc3pobuilders.runboard.com/p7378,from=rss#post7378 so, the EYES! After bags of research and messing with fairy lights and lights from model shops (and some scratching of heads) I found these Rice lights on eBay for £3.69 with free posting. Their tiny, and on a copper insulated wire, and come with a small battery pack (mine has 2 batteries ). They really work well, I feel . After a bit more messing (and a little bit of swearing ) , with the aid of a borrowed soldering iron, I was able to cut off the 6 bulbs I needed and attach them to the power supply and.....Vwallah!!! The droid can see!nondisclosed_email@example.com (SarahTC14)Mon, 17 Jun 2013 09:39:52 +0000 Re: SarahTC14https://bc3pobuilders.runboard.com/p7377,from=rss#post7377https://bc3pobuilders.runboard.com/p7377,from=rss#post7377 Phew. More sanding n stuff. Difficult!!! (you still reading!?) It's not symmetrical...it's not level...lots of filler...there's no halo on the front...no way it can join with the face-part at the moment... :-( All these things need figuring out! "Milliput" (superfine filler) is my new best friend!! ("getting to think this is a bad idea!!!!")nondisclosed_email@example.com (SarahTC14)Mon, 17 Jun 2013 09:37:37 +0000 Re: SarahTC14https://bc3pobuilders.runboard.com/p7376,from=rss#post7376https://bc3pobuilders.runboard.com/p7376,from=rss#post7376 The face! Ok I've decided to go with an old fibreglass head I've had for a long time. It needs a lot more work but has sharper edges and looked more accurate. So the face. The main issue is the chin area. I've started to add fibreglass filler to make it more symmetrical, still will need alot for sanding and shaping, more pictures soon :-).nondisclosed_email@example.com (SarahTC14)Mon, 17 Jun 2013 09:34:31 +0000 SarahTC14https://bc3pobuilders.runboard.com/p7375,from=rss#post7375https://bc3pobuilders.runboard.com/p7375,from=rss#post7375 'Here's where the fun begins' I've had some of these items for a few years now with the intention of building a 3po costume but added the vacuum formed head from eBay recently to help me kick start my build. The VF head although not as sharp as I'd like wasn't too expensive and gave me lots of extra items I didn't have, the halo, good eyes and neck bolts, plus some ideas of how to proceed. C3po builders forum have been a huge resource of information and I'm in awe at some of these guys work. Lets hope I can achieve something close to their examples!! Also ATM I'm working to build (possibly) a TC14 DROID !!! I am a huge SW fan (of too many years to mention here) and live in the North West of UK ( Cheshire ). Any helpful advice from 'local' or 'international' builders is always welcome. I only have a 3po head to work with at the moment, but hopefully I'll be able to obtain a full suit over the coming months, so if anyone out there can point me in the right direction of how to get started just message me :-) Sarah nondisclosed_email@example.com (SarahTC14)Mon, 17 Jun 2013 09:31:40 +0000
