Anyone know what these fasteners on the next bolts are?

These fasteners are on the neck bolts and also the torso bolts. Looks like some kind of twist lock system.

Anyone know what they are called and what the sockets on the neck are?

Don Bies said they are Dzus connectors. used in the Aircraft industry. They are a quarter turn type of screw, and requires a special socket to lock into place. Haven't seen the socket used on the collar as of yet.

So what is that socket on the collar? How can a Dzus connector attach to it?

It twists and locks on. These are commonly used on race car body panels. Some are spring loaded to prevent them from popping off.

ANH used screw on neck bolts but subsequent films used the Dzus ones for expediency.
