Knee Joint

Hello all,
I am attempting to manufacture a working knee joint / servo for C3-P0. I am trying to include all the servo electronics for either a digital (0.5 to 1.5 msec pulses) or an analogue (0V to 4.5V) version. My challenge is in not having a clear picture or diagram of the original knee construction.
I can make it look the same but it would be great if I can replicate the original.
Can anyone help me please?

Regards Andrew (droidbuilder1 in Australia))

Re: Knee Joint

The original ANH knee joint was simply made for costuming. There were cords that ran from the thighs to calves. The joint is the lower thigh resting on the upper knee. They slid on each other and friction was reduced using WD40 according to the Star Wars costumes book.

The ESB and Rotj suits had prongs formed in the joint to aid in alignment.

Re: Knee Joint

Thank you for that. I guess I was thinking more of the EP1 skeletal one, which was made as a puppet but still had to work as a joint.
Regards.
