Re: littledragon88's See-Threepio
The build is going very slow, but on tuesday, I got help with getting all the major parts on, except the small greeblies on the neck and knees. I realized that I have gained a bit of..meat since summer, causing a rather tight fit on the right leg, the leg parts kept pushing into my right foot, hence the shoe shell not wanting to fit correctly. I need to fix this somehow. Maybe make a custom flexible silver shoe..

Re: littledragon88's See-Threepio
The chrome is a similar process as Spectra Chrome. Spray chroming. Although I am extremely satisfied with the surface finish, I am excited for the latest tutorial by Gordon Tarpley. It's so much more fun AND convenient (less expensive also) to be able to do that yourself!
I cut out quite a bit off the back of the shorts, I am slightly a bit too tall for the suit in the first place, which makes rotating my knees a bit hard. So cutting off a bit more on the back compensated a bit for this. However, I am planning to cover this area with some golden spandex material, which hopefully will make this exposed area less visible.

It's so crazy all the little things you do to make these things fit!! lol
Looking great! Your gold looks awesome, and it will just get more amazing as you add the little details.

Re: littledragon88's See-Threepio
I did not wear the sneakers in this video, but when I do, the scratching sound will hopefully disappear as the shoe shell will be elevated from the ground.
So, this is my first walking test with the modded shoe shell:

I got the idea for the separated shoe shell from this reference picture. It is very clear that they used this solution in A New Hope, after they replaced the whole thing with rubber ones..

Re: littledragon88's See-Threepio
Modded shoe shell from the inside. I've now also glued a velcro-strap that goes from the "back" part of the shoe as well, which will work in the same way as the elastics.
Shoe laces are then used in the back to keep everything in place.
I will wear sneakers under the shoe shells to protect my real feet. After all, we're actually humans

Re: littledragon88's See-Threepio
Nice work buddy was thinking about doing something similar with the shoes I can help thinking the reference picture you used was not just a split shoes as it looks more, like that than a cut... Still gear idea =)

Re: littledragon88's See-Threepio
To be able to make the deadline for an upcoming event, I bought gold car wrap (foil) which I applied directly to the ABS shorts. Although the eBay seller claimed the wrap foil was stretchy when applied heat to, it was not. The color was also bit to "yellow". The result is shown in the following photo:

I will not strip down the foil and start over again using G.Tarpley's Alclad method and see how that goes.
