Re: *Official* Eyes Thread
Yep, those should work. I just cut off the extra lights and everything still works fine.

Re: *Official* Eyes Thread
I have a bunch of old, amber bicycle reflectors kicking around that could easily be cut to fit in 3PO's eyes.
Would that work, in terms of the overall eye color? You would certainly get the yellow tinge to the eye that seems to be seen in some pix, and the texture would be right. But would the yellow reflector be too inaccurate?

Re: *Official* Eyes Thread
The lens should be clear. But, give it a shot and post photos.

Re: *Official* Eyes Thread
I have the clear lenses too so I can always use them if the amber lenses are just too screwy.
I will put up some pix this weekend, hopefully I will get a minute to actually work on my droids!

Re: *Official* Eyes Thread
Hi fellow builders. When putting my Threepio together earlier this year I came up with a great solution to make more room inside the already crammed helmet (head). I had the eye diffusers laser-cut, because I wasn't happy with the bulky (weighty) supplied diffuser. I am offering some sets for builders who want to use them and have laser-cut them in two sizes to fit the various eye sockets (brass and fibreglass).
The two sizes are 30mm with a 10mm inner hole cut out and 32mm with a 12mm hole cut out. See the pic below.
If you want a set just measure the eye sockets and the brass tube to determine the size you need... And then put your order in.
Each pair is US$5 plus postage.

Re: *Official* Eyes Thread
Hi, maybe this is not relevant as the original post is from 2006
But I recently started buiding my 2nd C3PO head, and came across the perfect solution for the eye lenses.
It is not 100% accurate, but it hits a nice 90% accuracy;
I used what's called in DUtch "prism plate" it is commonly used in light fixtures when you have a lowered tile (offic style) ceiling.
It is a transparant piece of plastic with those nice little prisms we all need.
I costs next to nothing for a pretty nice big sheet.
Happy building

Re: *Official* Eyes Thread
How did you cut the Prism sheet to the circles?
Thanks
