Cracking of fiberglass
Hi everyone I've had my c-3po for around two years and still it keeps cracking now found some on the torso one under the shoulder on front torso, and two cracks on the back on the bottom part.whats the best way of making sure it dosent crack.I've resin one other parts of the costume and filled them in with filler.I've even put supports on the backs to make it stronger on some parts.

Re: Cracking of fiberglass
This is not what I need to hear about the kits, maybe a poor resin mix on your kit?

Re: Cracking of fiberglass
Have you had the parts sitting somewhere with a sudden change of temperature? This can cause cracking or warping

Re: Cracking of fiberglass
Ok so I have my kit here, I have the same problems, small cracks on various parts, biceps[where the joints were made] and especially the shins , all the bottom edges were cracked in various places. It isn't the gelcoat as I don't think gelcoat is used on the parts.
I cut out the cracks, added fibreglass and resin to the insides and the new wider cracks, so far so good. The parts are a bit heavier now but at least the cracks are gone.Quite an easy fix and gives me a bit more piece of mind.

Re: Cracking of fiberglass
Would it be possible to fill smaller cracks with CA hardened with baking soda and let to dry before sanding down any bumps created before chroming?
