I got the suit in the mail about two weeks ago. It showed up in great condition and everything fits pretty well too. My gut sticks out more than I'd like so I may be trying to loose about ten pounds off the midsection. lol
The upper arms are also a bit longer than my own arms. Even rammed into my armpits they still don't allow much bending, so I will be trimming them down to fit better. Other than that, a perfect fit. I can't wait to get started on the HUGE project.
Here are a couple shots from the first time I tried on all the parts... Tho I'm still waiting on the shorts...

Saw the bucket up close at our garrison meeting today. Looks really cool! You should save up and get it gold chromed (or whatever that's called!)

:thumbs up:

Cool! Hey, that Canadian VM firm will cost a lot less than the LA shop. http://www.vacuummetallizing.ca

Has anyone else had a suit done by them yet? I'll be sure to check out the site for sure! Thanks Chris.

I've decided to have my suit painted gold. I'm going to be using the Mirrachrome (killer chrome) that was listed in another thread. I placed my paint order this week and it should arrive in a couple more. I'll be sure to let everyone know how the paint job comes out.

I'm so excited to be making some progress!

So, work on it is going slow. I now have the paint I ordered so as soon as I get done doing some sanding here and there I'll be all set to go with the paint.
In the meantime... I have slowly been getting some metal parts. Here are the brass eyes from Russ, and an aluminum head post from the plans here on the boards.
I also got the rubber shoes. They photograph very well tho look a bit more yellow in person. I plan to paint them to match the rest of my suit eventually. I was SO excited to get them that I wore them around the house all morning after opening the box. lol

Re: AlpineDarthMaul

I've been spending my nights sanding and sanding. The paint that I bought recommends that the surface is very very smooth for the best finish. And even though I thought the primer coat was in pretty good shape, I decided to give it a good sanding just in case it could be better. And by golly, what a difference! In these photos you can see that the primer on some of the parts actually seem glossy because of how smooth I've sanded them.
I started with a 400 grit, went to an 800, and then 1000 grit. I bought some 2000 grit to really shine it up, but doubt that I need to take it to that level.
I've still got a lot of sanding to do, and the fronts of the knees have been a big pain in the butt. (curves and details are very hard to get to)
I've put sanded parts next to untouched parts. The sanded ones are darker and shiney. Here is how it looks so far....
