Re: AlpineDarthMaul
You shouldn't have to do so much sanding. I mean, it's helpful for a super smooth finish, but if you don't get in the little crevices it will not affect the overall appearance of the chroming (assuming that's what you're ultimately going to do). On my suit, I just lightly sanded the main area on the parts and it chromed up just fine.

Re: AlpineDarthMaul
I'm only sanding because the paint product suggests that it would provide the best finish. They say the paint goes on as smooth as the surface is. The sanding has taken time, but feels almost glass smooth. (It's gotta be the best it can be.)
So, here is some more progress on the arms. I put the together and pressed the pistons into place just to see how it's gonna look. (I'm getting more and more excited)
I still need to trim the tops of the arms a bit. They are just a bit longer than my own arms so my own elbow and the bend in the arms don't quite line up yet.

Re: AlpineDarthMaul
Um, the inner elbow piston is upside down, and belongs on the outside of the arm

Re: AlpineDarthMaul

Re: AlpineDarthMaul
Okay! Still plugging away on the suit. I've got all the sanding done. Honestly, I'm way glad that I took the time cuz it looks SO sharp now. (it always looked sharp, but the sanding just added a bit more.)
The legs are done. All the hinges are on and the knobs for the bungee chords are in place.
And now for the neat one...
These are the paint tests... This is the chrome simulating paint. So far it's only 3 layers, and I still need to add the gold tint to it, but I was happy with the way it looked so I couldn't wait to show it off.
I'm testing the paint on one of those talking dash-board buddies. lol He should look really sharp in my car now! (and after I add gold) I used a flash and some with no flash so you could see the difference.
I should start painting the real suit in about a week or so....
