Re: AlpineDarthMaul
So, I wore Threepio to an indoor event for the American Heart Association... A mall walking event and kids fair.
At the Fiesta Bowl Parade, there was very limited interaction. I didn't have my voice amp installed yet, and so I did most communication thru body language and simple motions. Quite a dull form of communication when Threepio is such a great character for chatting. lol
The Mall event was totally different. I have a basic amp installed and the ability to talk makes a world of difference. I had reactions from children that I've never had as Darth Maul. The kids seemed actually amazed that I could talk, understand what they said, and could move. I believe that they actually thought that I was a droid and not a guy in a costume. It was quite odd to me... and very fun. I'll try to post some pics of it soon.

got any video?

When you do the voice, this is a common reaction from people, especially kids. I believe that, these days, with so many complex toys that can obey commands and react to stimuli, kids will increasingly be inclined to believe that a walking Threepio is a real robot.

I expected them to be excited, and happy and all those things that go along with meeting a Star Wars character. I was not expecting them to look amazed or in some cases confused. lol
Sadly, I don't have any video from the latest event, but will be suiting up again for a 2 day event in Salt Lake City in a couple weeks. I'll be sure to get some video then...

Re: AlpineDarthMaul
Here is a video that a friend ask me to "star" in... the idea was for threepio to be doing his best to fit in the best he can. It was a quick afternoon shoot. Let me know what you think!

Yeah.. we were counting on it. The plan was to drop it on the floor, but my grip was way more limited than even I thought. In fact, the guy handed me the cup for the drink, and then the director changed angles and I couldn't get a grip on the cup a second time to continue from the same place. lol
