Re: Trooper TK409
Thats awesome Chris !!Congrats on getting to do it I think its so neat that a fan is getting to partake in
Star Wars universe. I know its just a commercial, but your portraying 3po for the world to see. I think its safe to safe say you can now be added to the tiny list of actors to play 3PO. Very cool.
And I have a feeling they will be calling on you again.
Thanks for sharing this with us

Re: Trooper TK409
Just back from France! I went over for several appearances in conjunction with "L'Espace Dans Ma Ville". Dawn and I traveled to France as a humanitarian visit for galactic goodwill ambassador, C-3PO. I appeared as the droid for several events including a childrens' space camp called L'Espace Dans Ma Ville (Space in my City), as well as a summer camp for less fortunate kids and a childrens' hospital. I was lucky enough to meet several 501st members and visit cities I'd never even dreamed of. The French people were warm and generous and I look forward to returning.
Also, my passion for vintage motorcycles was well fed!
Lots of photos at the links.

Chris,
You really have carved out a nice place for yourself in the Star Wars universe! You've done lots of sweet events and earned it with all your hard work! I'm impressed! Good job!

Re: Trooper TK409
The Kennedy Center, Washington DC:
George Lucas received a lifetime achievement award, but he wasn't available because he's working on "Red Tails". George summoned C-3PO and R2D2 to accept the award on his behalf. It was fun... presenter actress Alfre Woodard is spooked by nonhuman characters. When she first met the two droids, we had walked across the stage and I greeted her. We made our mark, we rehearsed our lines, we watched the clip of George, then R2 and I made our way into wings. Once we got offstage Ms. Woodard gasped, "There's a real person in there?!"
Lucasfilm PR was fantastic as always and made us as comfortable as possible... Well, R2 was comfortable anyway. Typical.

Re: Trooper TK409
I had my suit rechromed in February with a process called Cosmichrome- Which is more durable than vacummetalizing and about the same price. I chose to make the color a little more pale than the warmer gold I had before. I also had the right leg done silver. Other modifications on this version of my suit include: the smaller arms, new Moncal shorts, new Jim Sleeth feet, Fenixprops knuckle knobs, LEDs for the chest buttons, and separating all the fingertips in order to have greater articulation.

Re: Trooper TK409
Here's some new B-roll video while we waited for our big moment. The ceiling of the hall we were standing in was about 3 stories high so it had much more of an echo that normal.

Re: Trooper TK409
Chris, the new paint job is DEAD ON. You look incredible.
Please, please, please share your experiences and opinions with the paint! Did you have it done on a new suit? did you have to strip off the VM?
Great stuff! My jaw hits the floor every time you do the 3PO voice, I never imagined that someone could get so close to the real deal.
I can't tell for sure, but are those new belly wires?

Re: Trooper TK409
Ian, thank you very much sir! The belly wires have not changed, but I'll be adding more on the back tonight. The paint system is Cosmic Chrome and to be honest I'm not super thrilled with the reflectivity of this one. I'd rather had the crisp reflectivity of the VM - HOWEVER - this is like automotive paint. It's metal. It's thick and it's really durable and does not flake at all like I experienced with VM. I had a lot of miles on my VM and it was showing. I'm doing a second suit and have been reassured that the gun shooting it is a higher quality gun, very precise and can deliver VM-like reflectivity. Here's a better photo of my friend C-3PO.
