Need a C-3PO for a fan film
Hi everybody! I just joined the forums here so forgive my newbie-ness. I'm directing a Star Wars fan film next month and we're looking for a Threepio character. This can either be the suit (or top half of the suit) or, ideally, someone who has one and would like to be in the movie.
We are shooting in the LA area, which would make it more convenient to have someone with a suit nearby. For example, TK-409 seems to be the go-to-guy for Threepio, but I believe he's in North Carolina.
We are also willing to buy the parts and work it up for the movie. So, any help you guys could give would be great. The parts I've seen so far are wonderful and I would probably buy it outright for myself, but I'm more of the Porkins body-type.

hey there Robert i live in OC ive got a clean 3po ATM but hes in storage and i dont have any shorts feet or a midsection ATM otherwise i would be down for it if the shooting fit my schedule. I work for AT&T so my work and time off are hard to gauge as i work 5-7 days aweek if you could use me tho for just shoulder shot maybe we can work something out? also Mr. Tea is working on his 3po as well.

Hey Robert! I'm in SoCal and do have some 3po parts, but I don't think any of it would look good on film for a long time  3po is a very expensive, rare, and difficult costume. Last time this community did a rolecall (http://www.runboard.com/bc3pobuilders.f2.t58), They came up with only 10 wearable 3po's from all over the world.
I know only of 2 wearable suits in SoCal, One is up for sale at the moment for 2000$, I'm not sure if it has been sold yet. You can PM "Darkside" if you want more info on purchasing that suit, heres a link to the SoCal board: http://www.southerncaliforniagarrison.com/forums/index.php?. The other is Mike M who I have not seen on the boards lately and I don't believe I've ever met him.
You could purchase 3po parts from Chris as well (http://www.tk409.com/update0905.html) but the parts can take 5-10 weeks to make and ship. I wish you luck in your fanfilm, If you and Rion are able to work something out that would be awesome. I will hopefully be available for this type for this type of thing by the beginning of next year, but I assume this is a project you are planning on filming this year... So I don't think I'll be of much help. I wish you luck though!

Wow, thanks to you both for responding. So, when you say no midsection, is that the metal part below the chest or the soft part with the wires. Forgive my ignorance. We can definitely shoot from the waist up. Also we're thinking of shooting on the weekend - tentatively the first two weekends in May.

Cool! Between the 2 of you, it sounds like we may have something. We can shoot from the waist up if needed. Or if both of you combined add up to one full suit, that's also good. "Animetronic" on the RPF also recommended Ian.

I don't think I will be able to commit to this event, my suits not close to done, I don't even have arms or legs yet.
May is going to be a very busy month for me, and borrowing a suit would just be too much trouble (Especially since I'm up in the Valley and Rions down in OC) I'm sorry I will not be able to help I honestly wish my suit was done for this, but I'm hardly a 3PO yet.

right now it doesnt look like i can get my suit ready in time i pulled it out of storage to check it out and it needs some repair work but honestly i dont have the time at the moment or the work space i had before sorry
