MR A.D. at WSMI MN

Well I just got home from my trim to St Paul MN for the opening of the Star Wars - Where Science Meets Imagination exhibit.

While the event was fun and I had a great time as usual as 3po.. One disturbing thing bothered me.

Mr Danials said that he did not want ANY 3po ANYWHERE near him at ANY time.

I wasnt upset about it, and was GLAD to alblige his DEMAND. AS we all know , sadly in the last few years he has gotten rather.. well rude at times.

He scolded one of our vaders, yelled at a press guy and literaily lightly pushed one of the troopers at one point.

Not sure why he is getting like this. Oh well, His loss.

In other news.. When I get there, after a 6 hour drive, I find out I forgot my gloves with fingers at my house! So I take the for sale sign that I painted gold and laminated ( i keep this in my 3po case just in case of an emergancy) and I cut it into strips and wrap them around my fingers of my TK gloves tabing them to make sure they wont unroll.

While not perfect, they looked OK and NONE of the regular people visiting the museum noticed. Not event he ones who shook my hands. WHEWWWWWW what a relief !

I have pics up in the members gallery section

Here's my feeling on this.
Keep in mind Tom, that Anthony IS Threepio and when he is giving a presentation or greeting guests, and then a Threepio costume appears, the attention is drawn away from him and sort of negates a big reason for him being there.

Imagine if someone came to your work and did the same, specialized job that only you could do, and they did it for free. You may not want your employer seeing them hanging out while you perform your work either. Plus, all of us are counterfeits to Anthony's performance and the real Threepio suit, none of us can be him as well as he can. Try not to take it personal, it's not that he hates you or your costume. In fact he is very personable and warm in a private atmosphere. He was hired to visit the museum and he wants them to feel like they're getting their money's worth even without a Threepio costume being there.

He didn't want me in the room during his presentation when we we did the Boston opening either.

Dave Prowse is the same way about Vader costumers. He said so in a recent article saying, "They sort of take the attention away from me when I'm signing autographs."

I totally understand... I think as long as at some point he let you get a photo of the two of you together, I'd let it slide.
And if he seemed upset, it may have been for a number of other reasons. (then again, I wasn't there...)

I have trooped an event with Ray Park when I was dressed as Maul...
I did my best to keep my distance so that I wouldn't be a distraction to him. But there were several times he called me over because a customer wanted a photo with Ray and myself. But as soon as it was taken, I'd be off again to give him his space.
He was awesome about it and didn't seem so threatened by my being there at all, but then again, I made it a point not to linger.
