Re: Introduce Yourself!

Hello everybody!

My name is John Foster a.k.a. Ufo-Chaser. I've been building models and robots for as long as I can remember. My first models were muscle cars and I went straight to science fiction. My first big model was a full size working hand of King Kong. My best project was a full size replica of the bridge of the U.S.S. Enterprise. It was hard to get people to leave once they got there. I have almost no pictures of this work unfortunately.

So far, i've built several b-9 robots all from scratch even the bubble. Also a bender, R2 and several other displays. I've given almost all of these away to good friends. besides, I can build another.

A very good friend of mine got me started in science fiction, known as Doctor Creep. He hosted the week-end horror series Shock Theatre.

His name Barry Hobart, an incredible man who has collected money, coats and smiles for children over the years. He is a special guest at Foy's Halloween shop during the halloween season.

My youngest daughter and I while on a trip to Mexico. I don't drink alcoholic beverages, but here I had about 8 Pina coladas. I have 8 kids, three step, three adopted and two I made myself. EWWWWWWW! As I was saying i'm known as the Ufo-Chaser and you can view my video from my first sighting here http://www.eyepod.org/Video-Penn-John-Foster.html

Image

I started a website called ufochaser.com, I let it lapse and wouldn't ya know it, somebody took the name and opened it up. If he mentions my name in anyway without my permission, i'll sue his ass off. As Ufos go, we are at a slow period for about another year and a half. I'll probably open up firstufochaser.com at that point. Let me apologize for the roughness of the ufo video. I insisted on the poor quality simply because other people make enough money off of my butt. I don't want to get ripped off. Several investigators have asked for my video, and I make nothing. Yes, they are real ufos on the video and I've gone through MUFON, Govs, etc. It's the only ufo video in the world that show real interaction between people and Ufos. And it's the only video of a ufo caught that is under water. Someday, if the price is right i'll allow the original to be distributed nationally. So far today about 300,000 people have viewed this video, and they will crap when they see the clear version.

My goals are to build better higher quality bots. I generally see robots as a challenge and i'm ready for it. I have several projects going on right now and probably too many to finish in a year, but like most of these droidgeeks, i'll keep plugging along.

For a living i'm a Disaster Specialist. I can't tell you what that is but If you can figure out these clues you'll know. I invented perpendicular and Parallel Stratagies, Internal Thermal Identification, Isolators, etc. These a few specialized on going projects that make the impossible, possible. And no, I don't work directly for the gov., not do I ever plan to. I love doing what I do even though I don't have time to do it.

By the way, any info that I add to this site is for everyones benefit. Feel free to download any photos or info you like. I remember stumbling across this website for the first time. I thought, man its about time someone opened a forum like this. A really big thanx for Chris, you the man stan!

John

(Copied from the Parts Dept. section)

Hi, i am Robert Suarez, aka "DarthVader1" in a lot of other forums just like TK-409 (TDH, 501st forum, RPF, etc.) or "DarthVader001" in others.

As you can see, not so a newbie, but joined this group for the sole purpose that I have a NON-SW project in process for next Dragon*Con, which involves a costuming mask/helmet similar to the 3PO head, which comes handy in tips and tricks for what I need.

Maybe in the future, I decide to make a C-3PO display. Hope to see fellow members again soon at the next gathering (TK-409, TK-Bear...and so many others, so many to mention or remember at this point). :-D

Have you ever seen a character and thought to yourself, "Thats what I should be doing, thats me!"...? Well it's exactly what I thought after seening TK409s 3PO. I know it's the other end of the spectrum to go from Darth Maul to 3PO, but I'm hearing an innner droid caller calling me! lol

Anyway... I've just sold one of my favorite collectibles to fund my 3PO project. (always a sacrifice...) But the end goal is SO gonna be worth it.

Also, I do FX make-up as well. You can see some of my stuff on my myspace page.

Great to see you here man! You are hands-down the best Maul I've ever seen. Here's me and Shawn at the Rose Parade. You always get a good character shot with this guy - never a casual "guy in a costume" photo.

Thanks Chris!

I try to not be too casual in costume.... lol. I usually find myself in stalking mode as Maul!
It's the subtle things that make an awesome characterization... I've more recently found myself walking threepio style just for kicks and "trying it on" a bit to see how it feels.

I'll have to pick your brain over some of the fine points some time. I can't wait to be golden!

Re: Introduce Yourself!

My name's Tim and I've been costuming since Halloween 2004 when I made a wizard costume.

I found great interest in the hobby when I found the 501st in March of '06. I began researching multiple costumes before trying a custom mandalorian out of linoleum. It was a great starter set and taught me a lot about customization.

For Halloween 2006, I made a Batman suit (see my sig) and bought a "V for Vendetta" as a backup. I decided to wear V during the T&T hours and learned that nobody knew who I was.

As my batman progressed, I began doing appearances. I've got 9 under my belt as Batman, one as a friend's Nihilus, and 2 as a jedi padawan. They have all been great.

The first as a jedi was in borrowed gabr, but the second was in 90% my own. (loaner belt and robe)

The jedi will be my application to the Rebel Legion in March when I turn 18.

The second event, I was with a 3PO. After thinking, I have decided to work on a mouse droid followed by either an R4 unit or a protocol droid with the other following as time and money permits.

I figured that htis would be a good place to gather resources on the droid plates.

As tiem goes by and I learn who makes what and for how much, I will share my ideas with everyone.
My main plan cosnists of basically the regular plates but with gaps at diferent parts (torso, thighs) with wiring showing through....almost like a larger-than-normal frame with smaller plates attached. For effect, they will be connected with duct tape to show that it is made from spare parts.

Re: Introduce Yourself!

Hi,

My name is John and I live in Northern California. I just got a full 3P0 suit and am about to jump into building it.. so I know I'll have bunches of questions.

I'm a member of the 501st Golden Gate Garrison and have a Biker Scout and Arc Trooper costumes.

I'm also married and have a 16 month old daughter.

Thanks,

John
