Re: Top legs

First, I would suggest trimming the shorts based on your fit. If you have the plastic shorts from Moncal, you can trim a lot from the lower portion, probably a good 2-3" depending on your height. This will make them fit a lot easier into the tops of the thighs.

If you need to, you can also enlarge the thighs by slitting them at the back about 3/4 of the way down, heating them in an oven and expand them to fit, then let them cool. Then patch with fiberglass / bondo.

Ian / Mr tea had a blog tutorial on his site, but the images seem to have been removed. Maybe he can place the tutorial here. emoticon

250 degrees in a preheated oven for a few minutes.

primered parts should be fine.

Re: Top legs

If you look at screen grabs the lip is almost non existent so go along with that.I left a very small return edge just to make the shorts look 3-4mm thick just on the trurn.

When i get Russ-reps bolts i will glue a tab on the back section with the nut ,a hole in the front section of the shorts, this will hold the top.The bottom i am just going for elastic glued ffront to back and when i put my leg in it will stretch.

I do have a 30" inch waist sorry.

Re: Top legs

Sorry about my blog going down guys, Ive fixed it emoticon

I sent my mod to Matthew on Facebook, but Ill post it here as well:

For the thighs - What I remember doing was making a slit 3/4ths of the way down the back of the thigh. Using my heat gun, i heated up the surrounding fiberglass and slowly spread the slit apart. Once it was at a desired width (about half an inch) I shimmied something into the slit and let it cool down. Once cool, I removed the shim, taped up the outside of the slit with some painters tape and then laid some fiberglass into the slit from the inside. Once it was all dry and sanded flush, I used "Bondo-Glass" to fill in the large holes/dents and reconstruct the the top ridge. It's awesome stuff, its sands very well too. A Dremel comes in handy when trying to define your details as well. To fill in the smaller holes, I used "Bondo Glazing and Spot Putty" Its a red one-part putty, make sure to only use it for the smaller holes and dents. Use very fine sand paper when you are about done, you'll probably even want to wet sand it. Primer it with a filler primer, sand it again, primer it again, sand it again, etc. until its good as new

I did this same mod on my biceps as well, you can see the slit I made (the one on the right has already been widened):

Sadly I only have pictures of the thighs after they were mostly done:

For the pelvis I did something similar. I first cut the shorts in half , then I created a gap at the top, but not at the bottom. Like this:

Then I fiberglassed them to make them one peice - And then patched up the seam just like I did on the legs/biceps:
