Re: 3d Printed Parts

Thanks!
I wanted to make a post showing a little bit about how these are created. And some people doing strength tests with the
"white strong and flexible" material that I prefer for these parts.

Pretty good demo of a really thin part's ability to flex without snapping.

This is pretty funny but also pretty informative.

Chest pistons are uploaded to shapeways. Once the file is given the thumbs-up they'll be available in my shapeway store.
Top version based on Fenix Props, bottom is from very good picture of screen used pistons with a measurement reference in the photo.

These are fantastic, can't wait to pick them all up as the greeblies are the last few remaining parts I need! I'm a bit torn though, pick these up now or wait for the upgrade?!

I'll post up a picture of the chest greeblie later today as well, just going to try and sand it a bit then hit it with a coat of primer.

Great! excited to see the photo! Just finished a hollow version of the small forearm greeblies. Uploaded to shapeways.
I can do a solid version if anyone likes. It'll look the same from the outside, just cost more...

Re: 3d Printed Parts

I for one, am ok with the hollow parts to save some money. The white flexible material is pretty strong and allows some leeway if smacked into. The hand pistons, for how thin they are, feel and look very sturdy. As long as you do not get the urge to bend them at a 90 degree angle or something, you should be ok.

Thanks for doing this, my protocol droid came with greeblies but many of the details were soft. This helps provide a nice sharp "future droid look" but without the cost of metal parts.
