Yes Stuka lol, I know the difference between resin and styrene. I have worked with both, a lot.

This head has been changed quite a bit since I started working on it.The bottom of the chin has been deepened by 26mm approx, rear rounded , widened and deepened, the top of the rear head by 36mm approx, width and other dimensions are bigger.

Thanks, yes it feels like a resin head now lol. Some earlier pics of the head,

The white parts are not actually the original plastic, it is primer and filler.

I have given it a few more coats of undercoat and a bit more sharpening. Still the internal lip to add to the faceplate, fill the rear slots and give it a final coat of gloss black. Then I will really see just how bumpy and lumpy it is!

Re: C-3PO head rebuild

Thanks Matthew,

Ok I have been quite busy trying to get this ready for paint,
Image

I have been building up the back inner lip on the faceplate, I used various pieces of plastic strips and married up the backplate with the front,

I had to add a jointing piece to the threads of the neck bolts,

The eyes are almost ready for a brass spray job, they were made on the SLS machine in work, nylon, which is not the very best resolution machine,

Hi Nicolas, If you have a thin head any of Jim's heads will fit you.
Apparently the vacformed version is a bit bigger.
I have made this helmet quite a bit bigger, higher and wider that the vacformed version it started out as.
