Coat of Chrome Paint/Prep
Hello, I have been talking with Don at Coat of Chrome for my 3PO suit.
He quoted me $3500 for the prep and paint.
I was planning on prepping all of the parts myself but he recommended me not to as there is specific primer that needs to be used.
As much as I'd like to save money by doing the prep work and be able to say I did all of the work, I want it to be done right.
Does anyone have experience with Coat of Chrome and have prepped their own parts?
What has to be done with parts before they get sent for paint?
Thanks for any help you can give me!

This is what I used for my plated version. You need 2K primer which is a primer with a catalyst.

Re: Coat of Chrome Paint/Prep
Be aware, using paint with a catalyst and not paint with a solvent, is very dangerous.
solvent based paint are also bad as the solvents get into your bloodstream, and can cause trouble in the long run,
but catalyst based paints, if the fumes/paint gets into your lungs while painting, you can die on the spot.
because of the catalyst the miniscule paint drops will harden in your lungs, and you will suffocate very easily.
so please be very careful and wear protection recommended by the paint shop !
Have fun
